Job Title: Shelter Worker

Maison Baldwin House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Worker to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to women and their families in need.

Job Summary:

The Shelter Worker will be responsible for providing a safe and welcoming environment for clients, assessing their needs, and developing individualized plans to address their challenges. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, helping them to navigate the shelter and access available resources.
  • Conduct intake assessments to identify clients' needs and develop individualized plans to address their challenges.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to client support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to access resources and services for clients.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • College diploma or equivalent in a related field (e.g. social work, counseling, etc.).
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably in a shelter or social service setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
