About the Role

Scotiabank is seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about cloud transformation and have experience in developing and maintaining cloud platforms, services, and components.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong development experience and a breadth of language and framework experience. The successful candidate will have a full understanding of the software development life cycle and related technologies, as well as experience with cloud infrastructure and/or networking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components to enable safe enterprise-wide use of cloud common functionality.
  • Provide level 3 support responsibilities and participate in design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
  • Design, implement, and refactor code, ensuring high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements are met.
  • Work with other engineers and architects on breaking-down, scoping, and estimating tasks, and participate in planning, retrospective sessions, and attending stand-ups.
  • Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure, and support application teams on the use of cloud platform, including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.
  • Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and cloud platform/components/services development.
  • Strong development experience and breadth of language and framework experience (Java, Spring, NodeJS is a benefit).
  • Full understanding of software development life cycle and related technologies.
  • Understanding of software release process (environments, binary repositories, CI/CD) is required.
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud infrastructure is a strong benefit.
  • Expertise in relational databases.
  • Experience in NoSQL databases is a benefit.
  • In-depth knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and security considerations.
  • Proven experience in cloud development (Microsoft Azure, Google GCP) is a benefit.
  • Self-sufficient, works under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Attention to details, high standards for quality.

How You'll Work

This role is hybrid, allowing you to work from home part-time and in the office part-time.

$95,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
