Job Summary

As a Lifeguard (Part-time) with the City of Ottawa, you will be responsible for administering policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the pool. You will also perform rescues and first aid necessary for the preservation of life in a team setting.

Education and Experience

A minimum age requirement of 15 years is necessary for this position.

Certifications and Licenses

Current National Lifeguard Pool certificate, Lifesaving Instructor certificate, Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates, and Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate are required.

Knowledge

  • City of Ottawa and Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services departmental policies, guidelines and directives
  • City of Ottawa emergency response procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction
