Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Curatorial Assistant to join our team at the Stephen Lowe Art Gallery (1987) Alberta Ltd. The successful candidate will assist in the research, handling, and storage of artifacts, as well as assist with the planning and development of travelling exhibitions and special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the research, handling, and storage of artifacts
  • Assist with the planning and development of travelling exhibitions and special events
  • Classify and assign registration numbers to artifacts and supervise inventory control
  • Prepare and mount skins of birds or animals for preservation, scientific, or display purposes
  • Protect and care for cultural artifacts and collections during exhibitions, while in transit, and in storage
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Urban area work setting
  • Art gallery experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of museum collections management software
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
