The Electrical Estimator, located in Scarborough, typically reports directly to the Chief Estimator. This role involves all aspects of estimating and adhering to company policies and procedures related to the estimating process. The estimator will also collaborate with customers to ensure continuity of work opportunities and vendors to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards.
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-offs, project closings, and operational/sector meetings.
  • Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate of electrical estimating or construction program.
  • Several years' experience working in the electrical construction sector.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience in estimating electrical ICI construction work, preferably on P3 projects.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:

Able to proficiently know and understand:

  • Estimate closure.
  • Project electrical design interpretation.
  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution.
  • Organization and time management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with deadlines.

Able to use advanced software such as:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Accubid.

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year. Black & McDonald welcomes applications from persons with accessibility accommodation requirements.
