Black & McDonald's Mechanical & Electrical ICI team is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimator to join our team. If you are a collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimating and ensuring strict adherence to B&M policies and procedures relating to the estimating process. The Estimator will liaise with customers to ensure continuity of work opportunities and with vendors to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards
  • Participate in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of electrical estimating or construction program
  • Several years' experience working in the electrical construction sector

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience in estimating electrical ICI construction work, preferably on P3 projects

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

  • Estimate closure
  • Project electrical design interpretation
  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Organization and time management
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with deadlines

Advanced user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Accubid
