Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Director to lead our team at Primary Care Network & Cortes Island Health. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of our Indigenous Community Health Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement a clear and concise service delivery plan to ensure the provision of safe, welcoming, and efficient health services to our member Nations clients.
    • Provide direction and guidance to the leadership team and staff to achieve the Centre's vision, mission, and financial objectives.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure the Board is informed on the condition of the Centre.
  • Human Resources
    • Determine staffing and contracting requirements to support the Centre's operations and program delivery.
    • Supervise the Medical Office Team, Allied Health Care Team for Primary Care, and other associated staff.
    • Develop, review, and ensure HR policies, procedures, and job descriptions meet legislative requirements.
    • Foster an inclusive work environment that promotes cultural safety and competency.
  • Finance and Fundraising
    • Work with staff and the Executive Director to prepare a comprehensive annual budget.
    • Manage Ministry of Health (MOH) and Island Health funding to ensure fiscal responsibility.
    • Develop and maintain sound financial and bookkeeping practices.
    • Secure adequate funding for the Centre's operations.
  • Ministry and Health Authority Engagement
    • Communicate with MOH and health authority representatives.
    • Attend Primary Care Network meetings to provide program updates.
    • Respond to and monitor all reporting requirements to the MOH.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Represent the programs and services of the Centre to agencies and the general public.
    • Promote community awareness of the Centre's mission.
    • Maintain strong community relationships consistent with cultural customs.
