Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Roll Maintenance Millwright to join our team at Voith Group. As a Roll Maintenance Millwright, you will be responsible for evaluating and performing repairs to paper machine rolls and other specified equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and perform repairs to paper machine rolls and other specified equipment under the supervision of the Roll Servicing Supervisor.
  • Perform specific repairs to any type of roll for the pulp and paper industry.
  • Disassemble and assemble suction roll internal components, gear boxes, and other equipment.
  • Inspect suction rolls, variable crown rolls, and gear boxes using precision measuring instruments and visual inspection.
  • Head fits - check concentricity of shell and head, taper, and verify interference according to specification.
  • Bearing analysis - calculate fits and tolerances.
  • Repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Remove, repair, and replace shafts and couplings.
  • Work with blueprints and drawings, calculate tolerances for fit.
  • Calculate circle and radius measurements.
  • Layout dummy heads for radius drilling.
  • Fabricate jigs and fixtures.
  • Weld using oxyacetylene, arc, or mig welding equipment.
  • Torque heads to specific tolerances.
  • Balance rolls statically and dynamically.
  • Operate various machine shop equipment such as milling, lathe, boring mill, etc.
  • Direct apprentices under supervision of Roll Servicing Supervisor when and where applicable.
  • Other duties as specified.

Requirements

  • Licensed Millwright or Apprentice Millwright.
  • Functional knowledge of imperial measurement system.
  • Computer skills including data entry and emails (MS Office Suite).
  • Proficiency in French, functional spoken and written English.
  • Available for rotating shifts (day and evening).
  • As part of our hiring process, we require a pre-hire medical examination.
