About the Role
At Intact Financial Corporation, we're committed to providing comprehensive insurance solutions to our clients. We're seeking a highly skilled Claims Manager, Specialty to join our team and lead our Specialty Claims staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Specialty Claims team to achieve business goals and meet customer service expectations.
- Act as claims authority within areas of expertise, providing direction on file handling, policy interpretation, legal and technical issues, and large losses.
- Continually assess and improve workflows to ensure efficiency, responding to internal and external contacts regarding issues affecting them.
- Work closely with the Director of Claims to develop strategies and long-term plans to facilitate ongoing work, process improvement, customer relations, and other functions.
- Monitor financial performance and productivity, reporting observations, progress, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Provide expertise on claims matters, including policy interpretation, liability, and quantum determination, and settlement negotiation.
- Maintain work-product quality control of high standards.
- Provide effective leadership, responsible for hiring and terminations, coaching and mentoring, performance management, continuous learning, and career development for the claims team.
Requirements
- Experience with Specialty Insurance Claims, including Complex Casualty, E&O, Property, and Municipal and Public Entity claims.
- Excellent claims technical skills with a deep understanding of insurance coverage issues.
- Proven leadership skills with experience coaching and mentoring.
- Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in the Intact Leadership Success Factors: Live Our Values; Care for People; Be Open and Honest; Take Accountability; Drive Change.
- Positive attitude while adapting to changing priorities and taking ownership of work.
- University Degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation preferred.
