Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Leader to join our Asset Management team at Scotiabank. In this role, you will be responsible for providing financial insight to business partners, managing planning and coordination within Asset Management, and improving financial production effectiveness.

About the Role

  • Provide comprehensive financial review, analysis, and evaluation of various business units' financial performance.
  • Lead and motivate the team to maximize employee engagement and build a high-performance culture.
  • Manage business relationships and provide deep-analytics and insights to support the business and drive business results.
  • Conduct research and analysis based on industry and competitive intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting and Analysis
  • Report on investment products, research industry trends, and provide insightful analysis to business leaders and executives.
  • Support business line leaders with regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
Financial Management
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reports.
  • Maintain effective controls and ensure timely and accurate information is reported to Senior Management.
Annual Profit Plan and Forecasting
  • Lead and proactively manage the annual profit planning and quarterly forecasting for the business lines.
  • Timely and accurately prepare budgets relating to business units and support groups.
Strategic Thinking and Results Focused
  • Act as finance leader to the business and department heads by providing insightful financial analysis and competitive analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Commerce or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/analysis function.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards it.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting, Excel, Access database query tools, and business-related computer software.
