Assistant Professor – Synthetic Biologist Job Description

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly qualified and innovative Assistant Professor to join our Department of Biological Sciences. This tenure-track position will allow the successful candidate to establish an independent research program, contribute to teaching, and engage in service activities.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Synthetic Biology with expertise in experimental approaches, gene editing, DNA assembly, and modeling. They will be responsible for establishing an externally funded research program, contributing to the department's research, teaching, and service activities, and demonstrating outstanding teaching contributions.

About the Faculty:

The Department of Biological Sciences is a vibrant community with 29 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members, offering a range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The Faculty of Science has a strong tradition in undergraduate education in Synthetic Biology, and we are well-equipped with modern research facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Establish an independent and innovative externally funded research program.
  2. Contribute meaningfully to the research, teaching, and service activities of the Department.
  3. Demonstrate outstanding teaching contributions.

About the Salary:

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
