The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from $42.56 to $52.95 per hour, as of April 1, 2024.



Job Description


As an Occupational Therapist with Northern Health Authority, you will be responsible for performing assessments and interventions related to patients' occupational performance. Working under the general supervision of the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will rotate between acute physical/medical inpatient wards and outpatient services.


You will work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote functional independence and enable clients to achieve optimal health outcomes. Your expertise will be invaluable in enabling clients to regain or maintain their functional abilities.



Required Skills and Qualifications


To excel in this role, you must possess a graduate degree from an approved program in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia. You should also be eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

  • Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Knowledge Integration: Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.
  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using oral, written, and computer communication means.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives, and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
  • Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
  • Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows-based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of email and word processing.
