As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of our operations staff, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 standards, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise operations staff to ensure compliance with Approvals to Operate and quality control standards.
  • Ensure working procedures are performed in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Lead by example and hold operations staff accountable for their roles and responsibilities.
  • Update procedures and create training exercises for operators.
  • Collect and analyze data for monthly, regulatory, and operational reporting.
  • Perform field rounds, plant rounds, and lab duties as required.
  • Oversee laboratory sampling and provide guidance to operators on process controls.
  • Interface with EPCOR maintenance staff, contractors, suppliers, scientists, and process engineers to optimize plant operations.
  • Respond to client and public inquiries with professionalism.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential process issues through SCADA system and lab data analysis.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum Level 3 certification in Wastewater Treatment.
  • Certification in other disciplines is an asset.
  • NAIT Water & Wastewater Technician Certificate or University-level Science degree is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License with 6 or fewer demerits.
  • 5-year Commercial Drivers Abstract required at time of hire.
  • Class 3 license with Q endorsement is an asset.
  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong results orientation and commitment to quality service and excellence.
  • Proven experience leading and motivating an operating team.
  • Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing.

Working Conditions

Hours of work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with one hour for lunch. Overtime and weekend work are required. Must participate in on-call rotation system with 30-minute response time required.
