We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Counter Salesperson to join our team at EMCO Corporation. As a Counter Salesperson, you will play a key role in providing exceptional sales support to walk-in customers, maintaining a clean and organized counter sales area, and driving sales growth through effective merchandising and product promotion.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide the highest level of customer service by answering questions, picking, and entering orders, and following up on backorders.
- Counter Sales Support: Assist customers who purchase material at the counter, research product for customers, and provide recommendations on our assortment of products.
- Sales Growth: Drive sales growth through ownership of counter merchandising, product promotion, and generating leads for the Outside Account Manager.
- Order Processing: Enter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counter.
- Counter Maintenance: Maintain and clean the counter area, including any merchandising displays.
- Inventory Management: Inform the buyer when stock levels are low.
- Vendor Communication: Follow up on backorders with vendors and provide customers with accurate delivery dates.
- Return and Warranty Processing: Process returns and warranty claims to customers, both on account and cash sales, including paperwork in compliance with all procedures.
- Problem-Solving: Navigate and find solutions for customer concerns and complaints.
- Education: Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; College and/or University degree an asset.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience with customer service or counter sales.
- Skills: Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills, excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates, ability to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders, experience working in a fast-paced environment, intermediate math skills with a strong attention to detail, ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment, and a strong work ethic and high standard of integrity.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre.
- Technical Skills: Ability to use the Internet as a resource to problem-solve and find alternative solutions for customers, experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
