Salary

The salary for this position ranges from $65,000 to $72,000 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

Job Description

\

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our collaborative nursing team. As a nurse RN, you will have the opportunity to use critical thinking and assessment skills daily to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will be responsible for implementing nursing care plans, observing direct support staff in passing medications, and teaching them about health topics such as infection control and oral care.

Responsibilities

\

- Embrace a person-first holistic approach to health care, in compliance with regulatory policies and procedures.
- Implement nursing care plans for individuals supported by the organization.
- Watch and assess how direct support staff provides health services, including passing medication, and teach them about health topics like infection control and oral care.
- Provide oversight to direct support staff's provision of health-related services and observe individuals' health care needs.
- Use the Five Rights of Delegation when assigning medical tasks to direct care staff.
- Teach healthcare topics (Exposure Control Plan, Infection Control, oral care, skin integrity, constipation, seizures, vital signs, confidentiality, medical progress notes) to direct support staff.
- Implement the Nursing Service Plan & Nursing Plan of Care.
- Observe direct support staff in passing medications and renewing med certification for these staff.
- Provide on-call for direct support staff and LPNs as needed.
- Teach the OPWDD Medication Administration Course.
- Fulfill responsibilities addressed in each individual nursing policy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

\

- New York State licensure as a registered nurse.
- Long-term care experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively present and communicate information to audiences with various knowledge/skill levels.
- A valid driver's license with a record of responsible driving.
