Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement trial protocols for experimental fishing gear to reduce marine mammal entanglements.
- Collaborate with the Marine Field Team to distribute gear, facilitate trials, and gather data.
- Assist in the CanFISH Gear Lending Program, including gear delivery, training, and ongoing support.
- Communicate effectively with fish harvester partners and stakeholders to ensure successful gear trials and adoption.
- Experience working in marine environments, including commercial fishing vessels or other vessels at sea.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Self-directed and able to identify needs of the program and take initiative to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to carry out active field work in challenging physical conditions.
- College diploma or university degree in a related field, such as fisheries, conservation, or ocean technology.
- French language skills.
- Marine Emergency Duties (MED) training.
- Marine First Aid.
- Forklift Training.
