About the Role

Rise People is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Technician to join our finance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial accuracy and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Transaction Management: Accurately enter, verify, and adjust vendor invoices to ensure a smooth payment process and allocation.
  2. Accounts Receivable Management: Efficiently manage daily AR activities, including generating invoices, recording levy remittance, and cash receipt, ensuring accurate payment allocation.
  3. Invoice Approval and Management: Maintain Council guidelines in invoice approvals and manage approval workflows in SAGE APA.
  4. Vendor and Customer Management: Export invoices to Sage 300 and maintain vendor and customer information.
  5. P-Card Management: Oversee Council P-Card processes, ensuring seamless management.
  6. Payment Execution: Execute EFT and cheque runs, maintaining timely and precise payments.
  7. Cash Management: Manage daily cash activities, including deposits and reconciliations.
  8. Client Communication: Manage internal and external client inquiries with consistent, clear, and professional communication.
  9. Reporting and Auditing: Assist in month-end reporting and year-end external audits.
  10. Special Projects: Support special projects as assigned and suggest improvements to keep processes sharp.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  1. Digital Literacy: Comfort with digital systems, tools, and applications for processing information.
  2. Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel at an intermediate to advanced level. Some understanding of accounting software, with Sage ACCPAC experience being a plus.
  3. Accuracy and Speed: Exceptional accuracy and speed in processing information.
  4. Task Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  5. Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and listening skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  6. Problem-Solving: Proactive and flexible in addressing challenges.
  7. Teamwork: Effective in working with team members across the organization.
  8. Continuous Learning: Eager to learn and continuously seeking opportunities to develop new skills to grow.
