Role Overview:

The Fleet Management Strategist is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all fleet logistics, encompassing asset management, compliance, and dispatch. This role involves developing and implementing cost-effective asset management strategies to maximize performance within a commercially competitive environment. Day-to-day management of staff is also a critical function of this position, as all drivers and dispatch report directly to it.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with the overall vision and direction of transport operations.
- Maintain a safe working environment by aligning with corporate safety rules and regulations and ensuring a culture of safety.
- Manage people functions including staffing, hiring, performance, training, and development of drivers, dispatchers, and future leaders.
- Foster a culture that values accountability and excellent customer service through effective coaching and leading by example.
- Liaise with customers, sales, and internal teams as required on service issues, opportunities, and complaints in a professional manner.
- Assist with administration and facility management.
- Contractor responsibility, including scheduling, compliance, orientations, safety, and supervision.
- Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve company performance.
- Meet regularly with department heads/management; facilitate resolution of issues/problems between branches and/or departments.
- Analyze and report on the daily, monthly, and annual department's key performance indicators and industry trends.
- Review and use the monthly Profit and Loss statements to ensure expense control and proactively plan fleet utilization.
- Ensure all Drivers and Equipment stay in compliance with the National Safety Code as well as Alberta, BC, Sask., and Yukon Transportation Departments.
