Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Operating Room Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, communicating with healthcare teams, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate surgical procedures, including slating and scheduling
  • Communicate with healthcare teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including reception and administrative duties
  • Liaise with medical devices reprocessing department to ensure availability of necessary equipment
  • Order and dispense blood and blood products as needed
Requirements
  • Two years of previous experience as a Unit Clerk, preferably in a surgical or special care unit
  • Previous experience slating procedures via a computerized system
  • High school education, Manitoba standards
  • Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program
  • Medical terminology (pass mark 75%)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values
  • Typing/keyboard skills 30 wpm
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a Windows-based environment
  • Knowledge of International Classification of Disease 10th
Working Conditions

This is a challenging role that requires the ability to work effectively under considerable stress and maintain accurate performance in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work Days, Evenings, and Nights, weekdays and weekends, in a Master Rotation.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
