Academic Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Counsellor to join our team at Western British Columbia Polytechnic College.
About the RoleThe Educational Counsellor will provide academic guidance and support to students, parents, and teachers, helping them navigate the complexities of post-secondary education. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators to provide academic guidance and support
- Co-ordinate the provision of counselling and information services to students, parents, and teachers
- Administer and interpret standardized intelligence, aptitude, and interest tests
- Visit colleges and secondary schools to provide academic information to prospective students and their parents
- Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, and symposia
- Provide ongoing professional development, training, and consultative services to teachers
- Evaluate curriculum programs and recommend improvements
- Develop teaching materials and other resources for program delivery
- Advise students on course and academic matters and career decisions
- Academic program or credit evaluation
