Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care in our Pharmacy Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing medication orders, preparing and dispensing medications, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Order Processing: Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
- Prescription Verification: Receive prescriptions from practitioners and ensure that prescriptions are complete and authentic by verifying allergy status and demographics.
- Medication Preparation: Prepare and process prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products according to established procedures.
- Dispensing and Inventory Management: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others by verifying order entries and/or performing the final check of dispensed prescriptions. Maintain accurate records, including medication verification and quality assurance checks.
- Communication and Teamwork: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
