About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals in psychiatric or psychosocial crisis. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to assess patients, determine the level of illness and risk, and develop effective plans for care. Your expertise will be essential in identifying and addressing the unique needs of patients, including adolescents, families, and adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic assessments and develop recovery plans for patients in psychiatric or psychosocial crisis
  • Collaborate with Emergency Physicians and Psychiatrists to determine the plan of care for patients
  • Organize referrals to community services or admission to inpatient units based on client need
  • Assess and develop effective plans using the Addiction and Mental Health continuum to identify appropriate services for clients
  • Provide brief interventions to clients and identify, initiate, and modify interventions based on changing needs
  • Act as a resource to ED staff regarding assessment and care of patients with mental health conditions

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Experience in child and adolescents' mental health preferred
  • Certification in NVCI preferred
  • Nursing experience in an acute care setting is preferred
