The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC, hydronics, and plumbing systems, as well as excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of specifications and drawings
  • Develop material and labor take-offs
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
  • Review estimates with project managers and service managers to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare tenders by quantifying and organizing material, equipment, labor, and subcontract costs
  • Liaise with procurement to obtain pricing on estimate aspects
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, and project meetings
  • Provide guidance on estimate viability and risks
  • Prepare risk reviews for project managers and service managers
  • Assist sales force in developing proposals
  • Review tender closing documents and obtain signed/sealed certificates
  • Track bids and proposals in an Excel sheet and submit to project admin
  • Utilize estimating software to enhance and streamline estimating functions

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years estimating experience in HVAC, hydronics, and plumbing
  • Post-secondary degree or higher
  • Familiarity with building code and plumbing code
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Ability to adapt to new software and applications
  • Trade certificate a great asset
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
