Webequie First Nation Education Authority is seeking a qualified educator to fill a dual teaching position at the Simon Jacob Memorial Education Centre.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Grade 8 and High School students, with a focus on promoting a sense of pride in heritage and implementing First Nation content into the curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Grade 8 and High School students in a variety of subjects
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate First Nation content and promote cultural awareness
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods as needed
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills
Requirements
  • Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or ability to register
  • Special Education qualifications
  • 3 years of successful teaching experience
  • Appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal culture and traditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience living in northern communities and working in First Nation schools
