We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian (FT Leave Replacement) to join our team at the College of New Caledonia (CNC). As a key member of our Facilities Services department, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our buildings, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces, as well as restocking supplies and equipment.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and other machinery.
- Assist with emergency procedures, such as fire alarms and evacuations, and ensure that all doors and windows are locked.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff, answering questions and providing directions as needed.
- Monitor and report any maintenance or repair issues, including broken lights, water leaks, and damaged walls.
- Work collaboratively with other Facilities personnel to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Minimum of grade 10 completion.
- 6 months or more previous institutional or commercial custodial experience.
- Knowledge of custodial equipment and chemicals used.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and organize workload efficiently.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies.
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work within and contribute to a proactive team environment.
This is a full-time, leave replacement position that requires working a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
