Job Summary:

Sun Life is seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating medical, personal, and financial information to determine eligibility for life and critical illness insurance products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze medical, personal, and financial information to assess risk and make informed decisions
  • Classify risk and gather additional information as needed
  • Approve cases within authority limits and submit cases exceeding limits for co-signature
  • Negotiate with reinsurers to secure favorable decisions for clients
  • Liaise with business leaders and advisors to deliver exceptional service and expertise
  • Communicate decisions effectively to financial security advisors and clients
  • Document decisions in the underwriting system
  • Contribute to a positive work environment through teamwork and a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Individual Life Underwriter
  • Existing Life and Critical Illness signing authorities
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Strong analytical, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of medicine and risk factors
  • Service-oriented attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
