About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join our Underwriting team in Vancouver. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for prospecting and pursuing new business targets to profitably grow our portfolio, as well as underwriting, maintaining, and expanding of an assigned renewal portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Focus on proactive market engagement activities to drive organic new business growth, including appetite delivery, submission generation, and proactive pipelining.
  • Responsible for proactive account management and new business production and underwriting of Middle Market accounts, including analysis of risk, negotiation of policy terms and conditions, and confirmation of rate adequacy.
  • Maintain and expand Liberty broker and client relationships through regular marketing activities and the development of a pipeline of preferred Middle Market clients.
  • Work closely with other Liberty business units to leverage multi-line business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate effective prioritization of workload and provide superior customer service to our brokers and clients.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2-4 years' experience underwriting commercial P&C insurance with an emphasis on middle market commercial business.
  • University degree or equivalent post-secondary education with relevant insurance designations/education is an asset.
  • Firm understanding of core P&C policy wordings, trends, pricing, and strategies, with strong industry knowledge.
  • Self-starter with strong analytical skills, in addition to strong business and interpersonal communication skills required.
