Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at BC Cancer, providing high-quality care to oncology patients. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering holistic nursing care, including assessment, intervention, symptom management, treatment coordination, and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including patient assessment, reviewing patient and family history, and developing and implementing a nursing care plan.
- Collaborate with patients, family, and multidisciplinary team members to develop treatment/care plans and modify them as needed.
- Administer medications, injections, blood products, and IV fluids as required by the care plan.
- Maintain patient records, collecting and documenting patient information, health care history, nursing assessment, and symptom management.
- Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
- Assist patients in interpreting their care plans and refer them to other health care professionals and programs as needed.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to emergency procedures and safety policies.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated relevant clinical knowledge, ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice, and utilization of clinical and information technology to enhance patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients, the public, and all levels of staff.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and other related reports.
