Project Engineer

As an industrial construction and maintenance contractor, NTI Services Ltd. specializes in engineering, project management, and construction services for materials-handling, mining, and other industrial and commercial sectors.

The Project Engineer at NTI Services Ltd. is responsible for ensuring that projects are executed in compliance with contractual requirements, technical standards, and procedures. This role involves overseeing various aspects of project technical scopes, including:

  1. Design and constructability reviews
  2. Development of subcontractor scope packages
  3. Creation of field work packages
  4. Preparation of installation drawings
  5. Troubleshooting installation challenges in the field
  6. Commissioning
  7. Project close-out documentation
  8. Supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent on various project-related tasks

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote a work environment that prioritizes the safety and well-being of all personnel involved
  2. Execute projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget
  3. Manage the preparation of detailed design drawings, material specifications, and procurement
  4. Participate in design and constructability reviews
  5. Prepare and submit RFIs
  6. Prepare installation drawings and field work packages
  7. Coordinate site construction activities and resolve issues
  8. Review project schedule, monitor progress, and challenge underperformance
  9. Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with project design, specifications, and schedule
  10. Support the project manager in preparing change orders
  11. Support the project manager in developing weekly and monthly progress reports
  12. Collaborate with the QA/QC engineer

Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. Degree in engineering or technical school diploma and extensive practical project engineering experience on applicable project work
  2. 8+ years of experience in engineering, construction, or other related technical fields with increasing levels of responsibility and development
  3. 4+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in the industrial construction sector, with structural mechanical bulk material handling experience considered an advantage
  4. Experience managing multiple subcontractors of varying disciplines
  5. Excellent communication skills at all stakeholder levels, including suppliers and fabricators, field and office staff, consultancies, and clients and owners
  6. Strong grasp of engineering principles, particularly structural and mechanical
  7. Some electrical and instrumentation experience considered an advantage
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  9. Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done
  10. Basic Navisworks and AutoCAD skills
  11. Proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  12. Outstanding time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills

This is a permanent, full-time position, and the salary starts at $110,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay structures. As part of NorLand's total compensation package, this position is eligible for other benefits subject to program eligibility.
