Job Summary

The Vessel Dispatch Coordinator plays a critical role in the efficient allocation and dispatch of local tug operations and charter boats to meet customer demands. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills to ensure seamless coordination with internal and external resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize tug scheduling and dispatch to minimize costs and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with Dispatchers to ensure timely arrivals and departures of tows, and re-deploy internal resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with Marine Personnel to manage crew changes, crewing dispatch, and report on crewing problems and personnel issues.
  • Coordinate repair needs and dock days with the Engineering Department to improve equipment utilization and company profitability.
  • Respond to tug and barge-related emergencies, and advise second response teams as needed.
  • Handle customer complaints and provide information on non-legal, non-sensitive matters.
  • Assist with inward and outward Custom Clearances for all vessels entering Canadian waters.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in logistics, transportation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of marine experience, preferably as a certified Deck Officer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong ability to multitask, work under pressure, and display tact and diplomacy when handling complaints or implementing damage control measures.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with a strong understanding of marine fleet and crew capabilities and operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and HELM.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service orientation.
