Job PurposeThe Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risks.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions for employees and management.
- Develop training materials and maintain training records.
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures.
- Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain safety records and documentation as required by law.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in manufacturing.
- Experience with safety programs such as Lockout Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, and emergency response.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct training and presentations effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Work indoors in a fast-paced environment.
- Occasional travel to different company locations may be required.
- Sitting involved.
- May repeat the same movement.
- Typing involved.
