Rail Track Maintenance Specialist

The Rail Track Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of CN's rail network. This involves inspecting, repairing, and replacing rails, ties, switches, and ballasts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and maintain rail tracks to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Repair and replace defective ties, rails spikes, and anchors
- Install and repair street and railroad crossings
- Unload and distribute track material
- Ensure railroad right-of-way is clear of brush, vegetation, snow, and litter
- Follow CN's safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Working Conditions:
- Shift work with occasional overtime
- Long periods of travel, including overnight
- Primarily performed outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions
- Repetitive physical activity
Requirements:
- Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or regulatory and safety environment
- Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work autonomously and adapt to different situations
- Good teamwork and communication skills
The Rail Track Maintenance Specialist receives classroom training over a period of 4 weeks at 40 hours per week. The training is primarily on health and safety rules and basic machine operator procedures. Successful completion of the classroom training is mandatory in order to work as a Rail Track Maintenance Specialist.
