Research Analyst II

Job Summary:
The Research II role plays a critical part in the achievement of surveillance and research initiatives within the Public Health Surveillance and Informatics at Alberta Health Services. As a senior analyst, you will be responsible for providing methodological and analytical support on all aspects related to public health surveillance, including indicator development, standardization of methods, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced data management, analytical, and reporting functions, as well as dashboard development support.
- Apply research principles, frameworks, concepts, methods, and processes to address surveillance, health status assessment, and population and public health issues.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with key zone, provincial, and administrative staff.
- Consult with clients to fully understand and define the service/query/information requested, determine appropriate methodology, data types, and sources to use, complete the analysis, provide interpretation and recommendations, and present the findings/information in the format requested.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a health or science-related field.
- Registration with applicable professional association or college where required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a population health-related field.
- Ability to understand epidemiological issues and to communicate effectively with a broad variety of people with different skills and expertise.
- Strong skills working with datasets, including health-related administrative datasets.
- Strong skills using statistical software and basic to intermediate programming knowledge in SQL, Python.
- Ability to develop interactive dashboards in web reporting tools.
