Job Summary

MVT Canadian Bus, Inc. (Barrie Transit) is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bus Driver to join our team. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on our bus routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Buses Safely: Ensure the safe operation of buses, including pre-trip inspections, en route monitoring, and post-trip checks.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Provide passengers with information on fares, schedules, and stops, and ensure their safety and comfort during transit.
  • Collect Fares and Record Transactions: Collect fares and record transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Report Incidents and Maintenance Issues: Report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents to dispatchers and maintenance personnel.
  • Load and Unload Vehicles: Load and unload buses safely and efficiently.
  • Deal with Difficult Passengers: Deal with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Communicate with Dispatchers and Other Drivers: Communicate with dispatchers and other drivers using two-way radio systems.
  • Ensure Children's Safety: Ensure the safety of children boarding and leaving buses and crossing streets while buses are stopped.
  • Perform Pre-Trip, En Route, and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the safe operation of buses.
Requirements
  • Air Brakes Endorsement: Possess an Air Brakes Endorsement.
  • Driver's Licence (Class 2 or B or C): Possess a valid Driver's Licence (Class 2 or B or C).
  • Criminal Record Check and Driving Record Check: Pass a criminal record check and driving record check.
  • 20/20 Vision and Colour Perception: Possess 20/20 vision and be able to distinguish between colours.
  • Attention to Detail and Hand-Eye Coordination: Possess attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to Sit for Prolonged Periods: Be able to sit for prolonged periods.
