Education Requirements

No formal education credentials are necessary for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate various types of buses, including school buses and streetcars, to transport passengers safely.
  • Provide essential information to passengers regarding fares, schedules, and stops.
  • Collect fares and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Report any delays, mechanical issues, or accidents promptly.
  • Assist with loading and unloading passengers from the vehicle.
  • Engage with the public in a courteous manner.
  • Complete necessary logbooks and reports.
  • Handle challenging situations with passengers and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Communicate with passengers and dispatchers using two-way radio systems.
  • Ensure the safety of children during boarding, alighting, and while crossing streets.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Air Brakes Endorsement
  • Driver's License (Class 2, B, or C)
Experience Requirements

Previous experience as a subway operator, school bus driver, intercity bus driver, tour and charter bus driver, or para-transit driver is beneficial.

Transportation and Travel Experience

Experience with local transportation is preferred.
