Linamar Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for selecting and negotiating with approved vendors and placing purchase orders in response to product requirements established by various departments within the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Purchasing general and specialized equipment, materials, or business services for use or for further processing.
  • Assessing requirements and developing specifications for equipment, materials, and supplies to be purchased.
  • Inviting tenders, consulting with suppliers, and reviewing quotations.
  • Defining or negotiating contract terms and conditions, awarding supplier contracts, or recommending contract awards.
  • Establishing delivery schedules, monitoring progress, and contacting clients and suppliers to resolve problems.
  • Participating in business unit meetings to resolve quality, commercial, or servicing issues with suppliers.
  • Conducting ongoing negotiations with suppliers to ensure servicing incentives are identified.
  • Participating with plants to identify strategic suppliers and purchasing initiatives.
  • Outsourcing projects, including breaking down components to establish target costs, processing RFQs, requesting proposals, and sourcing new suppliers.
  • Developing strategies for short- and long-term goals and objectives to effectively utilize corporate purchasing leverage through consolidation.
  • Analyzing monthly sales for current and past years to identify seasonal variations in sales.
  • Calculating year-to-date sales, average inventory levels, inventory turnover rates, and order fill rates to diagnose purchasing and distribution problems.
  • Negotiating contracts, resolving disputes, agreements, and terms with new suppliers and existing suppliers.
  • Judging the quality of products and evaluating the quality of service provided by suppliers.
  • Locating data in various forms, such as invoices, shipping receipts, special order request forms, and new product information sheets.
  • Obtaining data, such as universal product codes, product descriptions, specifications, prices, discounts, taxes, and comments about suppliers and merchandising methods.

Requirements include:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Materials Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • PMAC certification or a minimum of two years of equivalent experience in purchasing and/or production planning/inventory control.
  • Minimum three years of previous experience in procurement functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • MRP/ERP experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to use computer applications and communications software as needed.
