We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SENCOTEN language educator to join our team at School District #63 (Saanich). As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students.

About the Role

This is an on-call teaching position that requires a strong commitment to Indigenous language and culture. The successful candidate will have a valid BC Teaching Certificate or First Nations Language Teaching Certificate, as well as demonstrated language proficiency in SENCOTEN.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging language lessons for students
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance Indigenous cultural awareness and understanding
  • Provide leadership and support to students in language development and fluency
  • Build connections and partnerships with Indigenous communities to promote cultural awareness and understanding
Requirements
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate or First Nations Language Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrated language proficiency in SENCOTEN
  • Language teacher training an asset
  • Knowledge of local Saanich Indigenous communities
  • Significant leadership experience, preferably in relation to developing and enhancing Indigenous communities and cultural awareness
