About the Role

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our team. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a critical role in providing detailed estimates for construction projects, working closely with project operations to ensure accurate and timely delivery of estimates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating and Cost Management
    • Prepare detailed estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
    • Develop and maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems to ensure accurate tracking of project expenses.
  • Project Coordination
    • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, engineers, designers, and architects to ensure accurate and timely delivery of estimates.
    • Participate in project reviews, tender reviews, and project closing meetings to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Supplier and Contractor Management
    • Develop and maintain a directory of suppliers and contractors to ensure efficient procurement processes.
    • Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and architects.
    • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of estimates and project documentation.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Demonstrated track record of project estimating in the commercial and industrial markets.
    • Completion of a college program in mechanical engineering or several years of experience as a qualified trade person in the mechanical construction trade.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Intermediate level experience with estimating programs, including Accubid.
    • Competency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and JDEdwards.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with ability to shift priorities and work flexible hours.
