We are seeking a highly skilled Pension Risk Management Consultant to join our team at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the review and assessment of pension risk management and governance practices amongst large public sector pension plans in Ontario.
Key Responsibilities- Program Planning and Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive framework for assessing risk management and governance practices amongst pension plans.
- Establish standard metrics for pension plans to report to FSRA, enabling timely monitoring of risk management practices.
- Pension Risk Management Monitoring
- Lead the analysis and validation of information, documentation, and policies received from pension plans regarding their risk management and governance practices.
- Conduct detailed reviews of pension plans, considering all aspects of pension plan risk management processes and controls.
- Identify idiosyncratic or systemic deficiencies in risk management practices of pension plans in Ontario and flag plans with potentially high residual risks.
- Large Public Sector Pension Plans Relationship Management and Supervision
- Develop and implement an engagement framework for Large Public Sector Pension Plans, including guidelines, standards, and approaches.
- Lead technical discussions and reviews with Large Public Sector Pension Plans, including periodic engagement calls.
- Industry Outreach and Research
- Conduct research on current and emerging risk management strategies and products, providing information and technical expertise to FSRA senior management.
- Provide subject matter expertise and advisory services to inform the establishment of and amendments to government legislation and regulations governing pension risk management.
- Education and Experience
- Graduate degree in commerce, accounting, business, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or other relevant field.
- Professional designation such as Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), an asset.
- 10+ years' experience in portfolio management and/or undertaking financial risk management and measurement of pension plans or other financial institutions.
- Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of market, credit, and operational risk for investment and pension funds.
- Knowledge of stress testing methodologies, financial modeling, and data analytics for investment and pension funds.
- Relationship management skills to maintain effective linkages with the pension investment industry and other stakeholders.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $80,595.00 to $117,142.00, and a comprehensive benefits package.
