About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Sourcing Manager - Packaging to join our team at Colgate. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for creating and driving strategic sourcing for all packaging materials, with a focus on optimizing purchasing opportunities and driving continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Category Management: Study trends in direct materials for new products or modifications to existing products and marketing for category business projection.
  2. Commodity Price Analysis: Examine critical commodity prices such as resins and paperboards, and anticipate their movements in the mid to long-term, and the consequent impact on the company's cost structure.
  3. Supplier Base Mapping: Map existing supplier base and analyze the number of new vendors required to generate cost leverage and limit the company's exposure to supply fluctuations.
  4. Procurement Strategy Development: Prepare procurement strategy for the mid to long-term, under the guidance of division category Supply Chain team and India leadership.
Monitoring and Review
  1. E-Auction Process Oversight: Oversee the e-auction process, monitor the achievement of benchmark prices, and conduct negotiations on a one-on-one basis if the e-auction process is not successful.
  2. Compliance Review: Review compliance to the established approval matrix.
  3. Cost Tracking: Track cost of materials to ensure achievement of savings targets.
Evaluation of Suppliers
  1. Supplier Assessments: Conduct periodic assessments such as Enhanced Supplier Management and Social Responsibility and Security Assessment for existing suppliers.
  2. Supplier Identification and Evaluation: Identify potential suppliers and evaluate them on technical, financial, supplier market benchmarks, Colgate global quality, and reliability parameters.
  3. Contract Review: Review the terms and conditions before signing the contract with suppliers, including for global contracts, to ensure that company interests have been protected adequately.
Process Improvement and Change Management
  1. Efficiency Projects: Identify efficiency projects under the Fund to Growth initiative such as buying optimization and import substitution.
  2. Change Management: Guide teams towards implementation by setting up a plan and conducting periodic reviews.
  3. Company Readiness: Lead the change management process and ensure company readiness to accept and adopt the changes to the way of doing business.
  4. Sustainability Initiatives: Work on sustainability initiatives in packaging along with suppliers to actively support the organization for all major plastic and paper sustainability initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  1. MBA in Operations
  2. At least 8+ years of experience
  3. Ability for Cross Cultural collaboration and Influence
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Preferably worked in Cross Country Sourcing in FMCG companies
  2. Certifications in strategic sourcing
