Halton Healthcare is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Mental Health Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mental health crisis and risk assessments, and provide one-to-one supportive therapy and medical care.
- Work collaboratively with the Emergency Department and inpatient Programs, alongside other hospital services and community agencies.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and well-being.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BCLS Certification required at time of hire.
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in crisis & mental health required.
- Mental health community experience preferred.
- Advanced skill in the assessment and management of acute mental health and concurrent disorders conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize care and make informed autonomous decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, professionalism, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Certificate in Mental Health Nursing.
- Current certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable health care legislations.
- Physical ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of aggressive behaviour.
