Job Summary

The University of Fredericton is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Dean of Research to play a key role in fostering a vibrant research culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting high-quality research, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and developing strategic research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Leadership:
    • Foster a research culture that supports faculty and encourages innovation.
    • Mentor faculty and students in their research endeavors and professional development.
    • Collaborate with university leaders to integrate research initiatives with the overall strategic plan.
    • Encourage an environment that promotes both high-quality research and transfer to industry stakeholders.
  • Research Development and Support:
    • Support faculty in developing research proposals and managing funded projects.
    • Promote interdisciplinary research and partnerships within and outside the university.
    • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging findings, trends, issues, challenges, technology, insights, and priorities in the field of higher education.
    • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, funding agencies, and academic institutions.
  • Research Administration and Compliance:
    • Ensure ethical standards and integrity in all research activities.
    • Oversee the administration of research policies, procedures, and compliance with regulations.
    • Monitor and report on the progress of research initiatives and outcomes.
Requirements
  • PhD or other terminal degree.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an administrative leadership position/role in a higher education setting.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly research and peer-reviewed publication.
  • Experience in collaboratively leading and supporting faculty.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and developments in research and higher education.
  • Strong understanding of research compliance, policies, and ethical standards.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with a wide range of people, maintaining professionalism and sound judgment during difficult conversations, under stress, and in managing challenging situations.

  • Experience in interdisciplinary research and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing faculty and student researchers.
