Job Summary

At Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with vision loss.

As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will be responsible for providing personalized low vision services to clients across New Brunswick. Your expertise in functional low vision assessments, training in the use of prescribed devices, and education on eye conditions and vision health will empower clients to regain independence and achieve their goals.

About the Role

This full-time permanent position offers a competitive salary of $42,005-$63,008 per year, commensurate with experience. You will work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to provide essential care in various settings, including homes, workplaces, and communities. Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with clients, families, and healthcare teams will be crucial in delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct functional low vision assessments and develop individualized plans to address client needs
Teach clients how to maximize residual vision and use prescribed low vision devices
Provide education on eye conditions and vision health, as well as referrals to internal and external services
Build relationships with community-based rehabilitation teams, agencies, schools, partners, and healthcare professionals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:
A graduate degree in healthcare or a related field, such as public health or community nursing
Certification from the National Vision Rehabilitation (Low Vision Specialist) Training Program
ACVREP certification or eligibility
Excellent verbal, written, and math skills, as well as high-level computer application competency
Bilingualism in French and English is a requirement
