Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Attendant to join our team at Camosun College. As a key member of our food and beverage operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including rack-type washing machines and pre-rinse sprayers.
  • Manually and mechanically wash and sanitize kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils.
  • Clean and maintain food and beverage production areas, including dry and refrigerated storage areas.
  • Assist with food preparation and presentation as directed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of utensils and equipment.
  • Comply with all department, school, and college policies and regulations relevant to the position.
Requirements
  • Grade education and current FoodSafe Certification Level 1 and WHIMIS certification.
  • Six months of work experience in food and beverage operations, including three months of physically demanding manual labor experience.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in a hot, humid kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply proper sanitary food handling procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to relate well with students, staff, and the public.
