Job Description

The BMO Global Equity team is comprised of Global sector portfolio managers and Global sector analysts who collaborate to drive idea generation, analysis, and investment recommendations. The team manages over $4.2 billion in assets across various strategies, including balanced, global equity, thematic, and sector-specific funds for different distribution channels. BMO GAM currently manages over $170 billion in assets for various distribution channels. We are headquartered in Toronto.

Global Sector Analyst Role

The ideal candidate will have prior experience analyzing company fundamentals and will be responsible for performing qualitative and financial analysis on companies primarily within the consumer discretionary and staples sectors. Emphasis will be placed on management, strategy, industry dynamics, capital allocation, and cash flow growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong stock selection and decision-making expertise
  • Exhibit strong financial and modeling skills
  • Develop a deep sector perspective and articulate it effectively
  • Stay up-to-date on macro-economic, geopolitical, and world issues and their impact on the sectors under coverage
  • Pitch timely, high-conviction, and actionable investment recommendations and sector ideas
  • Conduct independent research and develop differentiated insights, supported by data, and present findings with conviction
  • Publish reports that include in-depth research and analysis, along with investment rationale, to stimulate discussion and actionable ideas
  • Communicate effectively and influence others to adopt your perspective
  • Exhibit confidence and conviction when presenting ideas
  • Collaborate with other analysts to gain a broader understanding of a subject

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • Minimum 2-4 years of related or direct experience in the investment management industry
  • Progress toward CFA charter preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in deep, differentiated fundamental analysis within the investment industry
  • Working knowledge of capital markets and investment management
  • Deep curiosity about the subject matter
  • Articulate and confident communication skills
  • Desire to contribute meaningfully in a small, entrepreneurial team environment
  • Proven ability to take projects from start to finish
  • Willingness to work independently while developing within a culture of mentorship and collaboration
  • Team player who can support Portfolio Managers and other Analysts in report writing and ad-hoc projects
  • Open and inquisitive mind willing to accept new ideas while challenging existing assumptions
  • Desire to build a long-term career with a strong, growing organization

Compensation

$76,142,100.00

Pay Type

Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
