Maternity Leave Coverage Position
Guardian Veterinary Centre is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT to join our Anesthesia team. We offer a local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training. Our team provides high-quality medicine and is passionate about our patients.
Schedule: This is a full-time mat leave position with a condensed work week of 4 x 10-hour shifts in a weekday rotation and on-call shifts.
This is a great opportunity to learn advanced nursing and anesthesia skills and become part of a large team.
- Have completed a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technologist program.
- Surgical preparation, assisting, and patient recovery.
- Ability to keep detailed and accurate patient records.
- Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients and their pet parents.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude, including the ability to ask clarifying questions to facilitate effective solution-finding.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with colleagues and pet parents.
- Passion to learn more within the role.
- A love for all companion animals.
Some advanced skills you will use in this position are:
- Use of CRIs and TIVA (total intravenous anesthesia).
- Performing advanced imaging such as CT scans and use of Fluoroscopy.
- Performing radiographs HANDS FREE (our RVTs are never in that room).
- Administering epidurals and other various local blocks.
- Use of mechanical ventilators.
- Invasive blood pressure monitoring.
