About the Role:

The Intermediate Accountant will provide financial support and expertise to the Controller, ensuring the accuracy of cost accounting data and managing project accounts. This role will also participate in the month-end close process, examine and analyze ledger entries, and validate balance sheets accounts and other accounting and financial records.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy of cost accounting data and manage project accounts
  • Participate in the month-end close process and examine and analyze ledger entries
  • Validate balance sheets accounts and other accounting and financial records
  • Provide back-up to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Support finance team with monthly financial management reports
  • Support monthly/quarterly management reports along with variance analysis as required
  • Assist with the budget and forecast process
  • Prepare, maintain, and provide recommendations for improvements to accounting processes
  • Maintain strong customer relationships by responding to inquiries on a timely basis
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality with respect to private information
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience within finance in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Degree/Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Proven experience in cost accounting, project accounting, or related roles
  • Experience in performing financial analysis
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Outlook
  • Previous experience using Sage Accounting Software, an asset
  • Proficiency in ERP systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and independently to meet deadlines
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results-driven; prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization and ability to work well as part of a team

Working Conditions:

  • Most work is carried out in a typical business office with occasional visits to the shop floor which requires wearing personal protective equipment
  • Exposure to elements such as dust, temperature, and noise during time spent on the shop floor
