Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Employment Law Counsel - Americas to join our team. In this role, you'll work closely with our leadership to develop and implement the legal strategy for our EOR product in various jurisdictions across the Americas. Your expertise in employment law and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively will be invaluable assets to our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and define legal risks associated with hiring and managing employees as an employer-of-record across different jurisdictions in the Americas.
  • Support Senior Employment Counsel to establish and review contractual architecture, risk frameworks, policies, processes, and workflows for compliance in existing and new jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with Product to advise on new solutions in the Americas.
  • Ensure adherence to jurisdictional legal requirements in your region across Justworks products, policies, knowledge bases, and standard operating procedures.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and assist with corporate matters and transactions in the jurisdictions in your region.
Requirements
  • Qualified to practice law in Canada or another relevant jurisdiction in the Americas.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of substantive legal experience in employment matters with a corporate legal department and/or law firm.
  • Experience in counseling clients on Canadian employment matters across the employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, recurring employment compliance, and termination.
  • Superior knowledge and application of contract and business law with strong legal analysis skills.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $120,000-$180,000 per year, depending on location and other factors.
