Odgers Berndtson is pleased to assist the University of British Columbia in its search for a Dean of Science. The Faculty of Science is a global centre for teaching, learning, and research excellence, with a strong reputation for advancing human knowledge and understanding.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Dean will provide strategic leadership and vision for the Faculty, fostering a culture of excellence in research, teaching, and service. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing academic leadership and oversight of the Faculty's programs, research, and innovation initiatives;
- Fostering strong partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders to advance the Faculty's research agenda and promote its research outcomes;
- Developing and implementing strategies to enhance the Faculty's reputation and visibility, both locally and globally;
- Providing strategic direction for the Faculty's financial and operational resources, ensuring effective use of resources to achieve its goals;
- Leading and managing a team of senior administrators, academic staff, and support staff to achieve the Faculty's objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, a proven track record of leadership and management experience, and a deep understanding of the Faculty's research and academic programs. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with faculty members, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
