Job Description

The Senior Architectural Technologist will play a key role in our design team, working under the supervision of an Architectural Technology Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing technical documents, coordinating with team members and consultants, and ensuring the accuracy, quality, and completeness of finished drawing packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creation of technical content, including details, to the highest standard of excellence, while maintaining design intent throughout the project.
  • Assistance with contract administration during construction.
  • Code analysis and coordination with consultants.
  • Quality Control procedures and research of construction materials.
  • Printing, assembly, circulation, and filing of project documents.
  • Resolution of complex operating tasks or drawing production problems.
  • Staying up-to-date on construction practices, products, codes, and technology.
  • Participation in the development of highly detailed models in REVIT.
  • Communication with clients throughout the design process, sharing updates and answering questions while adhering to project goals.
  • Understanding and adherence to project fees and resources.
  • Understanding and adherence to deadlines agreed upon with the Project Architect and Studio Manager.
  • Leadership, development, preparation, and review of Design Development Drawings (DD) and Contract Documents and specifications.
  • Attendance at coordination and site meetings.
  • Mentorship, guidance, and direction to other Architectural Technologist Team Members.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details to ensure work is done correctly and thoroughly.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Collaborative, highly motivated, accountable, and diligent.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Architectural Technology Diploma required.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills and fluency with Revit, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience working on commercial design.
  • Experience as project lead on small to medium-sized projects and ability to provide support to a Senior Project Lead on large projects.
  • Familiarity with the Alberta Building Code.
  • Experience working on large and complex projects.
  • Experience with sub-consultant coordination.
  • Experience working on projects in various sectors, including commercial, healthcare, institutional, mixed-use, industrial, and retail.
  • High proficiency in developing architectural drawing packages and knowledgeable with detailing.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Able to work under pressure to complete work and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable, agile, and open to accepting design challenges.
